Hi folks,
Has the background color of the logo table at the top of javaranch pages changed to a sort-ot lime green lately , or have I been staring at my monitor a little too long?

Pretty ugly, huh? Maybe if you guys would use the Bunkhouse they wouldn't have to make it so.... ugly to attract your attention.

I selected the color. Mainly for a change of pace. I thought it reminded me of spring grass. I'm not the best at GUI design. Anyone have a recommendation for a better color?

green color doesn't look good with the background we have . The previous color was more appropriate. the present looks totally misfit.
I may be wrong. But , I didn't like the change.
Shailesh.

Hi Carl, I don't even remember what color it was before, just noticed that it was pretty different.
If it has to be green, maybe a kindler, gentler green (#CCFFCC maybe?). I think a mild yellow fits in with the browns and beiges of the ranch a little better (#FFFFCC maybe?), but what do I know?
Maybe the folks over at html/javascript could help with the change of pace...

I kinda feel dumb now. I came in here to compliment the yellowish background. I agree that it doesn't really go with the browns but it grabbed my attention. Since it's an advertisement that's what it's supposed to do.

Hi Carl,
I kinda like it. Like Joseph said, it's eye catching. And yeah, it doesn't really match the browns and beiges, but it doesn't clash with them either, I think.
What color was it before?
(Something that didn't grab my attention, apparently. )
cheers, Pauline

I just checked some Cattle Drive pages I had stored on my hard drive. The background for the box there was f0e6d5, which looks to me to be the same beige color as the background to the post above mine.

Yes, it is designed to draw your attention. To the second most worked on portion of the Ranch. It's something we are all proud of!!! It takes the work of several people just to to keep the pages uptodate. These people desire to have their work noticed. That doesn't count the time we devote to giving good and helpful reviews on books. If that doesn't sound like a chore, you get "JSP: The Complete Reference" (876 pages), read it write an intellegent review in 2 weeks from it hitting your door! That's the Requirement! (and Angela is a sticklier)
