Can JavaScript run from Command Line?

Hi: Does anybody know how to invoke a JavaScript function from command line? If Yes, Is HTML DOM object(usually provided by the browser) available to the JavaScript function.

To my knowledge, no you can not write javascript in the command prompts, because you need a browser to render the code.,,,,I belive that a javascript function has the ability to write to the command prompt if I remember an eariler discussion here correctly...
