using javascript to make a link to an url

hi
i'm using a frame work in that frame i'm loading a url.i'm using
document.location.href=URL to load a url in that frame.my prob is that when ever i load url another browser window open with the name of the url.also when ever i enter any search criteria inside the frame url the url covers the total window.i don't want this.i want the url shoule be inside the frame only.what ever searh criteria or what ever link u try to open this should be display inside the frmae only not cover the total winodw.how is it possible.i tried a lot.
plz any body help in this regards

You would need to set the size and the position of the pop up.

the form is divided in to 2parts.in one part i specify the size of the iframe(height,width etc).
then how to solve this problem.
