Smart share the color between styles

Currently I manually assure that different style definitions use the same color, however any color change requires to modify all styles using it. What's common practice to spread the same color between styles?

Set stuff with the top most tag
html, body{

}

OR

Just combine them with commas
div, span, .something, .somethingElse { color:red; background: orange;}

the class can appear more than once in a file.
