Which is the most preferred library for incorporating ajax in applications..??

It is what fits your needs. Some people use prototype, some use DOJO, some use JQuery, etc.

I suggest you read each of them and find what you want. I do not know your needs, I could tell you use X and you need Y. If you search this forum it has been talked about in the past.

I'd suggest that if you are just starting out, learn how to use XMLHttpRequest yourself (good article here) and then, once you understand the basic principles, you will be in a position to choose the best library for your needs.
