Finally got through the exam. I haven't posted on this forum before but have been following the discussions closely. I appeared for the exam last november and missed it by 2 questions and it took me 4 months to get up the courage to try it again. Some of the questions i got in the exam were a repeat of last time, but i did not bother to remember them, and i am sure i made the same mistakes again. I don't think I have any thing new to say that has not been said before but one
word of advice.
Read the questions carefully and some times other questions on the sane topic may help clarify a point. It certainly helped me get my constuctors right for i/o.
Most of the code segments are around 10-12 lines and i remember only 3 or 4 that are more than 20 lines. And most of the time
you should be able to look at the question and the code exhibit at the same time.
Mughal's book is great and i wish i started on it much earlier. RHE helped me clear a couple of concepts. I used JQ+ primarily to attack my weak spots, like threads, garbage collection , overriding vs overloading and object oriented concepts.Thank you JQ+. I wish to thank Jyothi and Velmurugan for the great job they have done in compiling the notes and they certainly helped me in my revision.
Rules roundup at the ranch came as a rude awakening for me when i thought i really had everything in hand and was ready for the exam, sent me scurrying back to the books again.
Desboro's notes as a last minute revision of the objectives.
Marcus green whenever i had to lookup something in a hurry. Gone through his mocks the last time i took the
test but not this time as i was too lazy. His style is the closest to what i've encounterd on the exam.
Ajith's notes on potential trips/traps in
SCJP exam were a great help.
Jane's explanations on garbage collectin of strings was really good.
And Maha, the one source i went back to most of the time
for any info i needed for the exam.
Javaranch is the main reason i tried the exam a second time and it really helped me a great deal to know that i am not alone in this.
Thank you Jane and Ajith for the great job you guys are doing.
