Hi!
Actually I passed the exam in May this year, but I want to share my exam experience with you.
First I read the Sybex SCJP book, but it was to shallow. They didn't even mentioned about some topics.
The second and the last book I've read was Kathy and Bert's. Thanks K&B!!!

Then I've taken many mock exams and tried my best
Last week I quited my job to have some time to learn and I'll finally try to find a job as a programmer... I've worked for more than 3 years as a civil servant + IT guy
SCJA, SCWCD and MSSQL 2000 Design will be next, so see you soon in this thread!

Well plans changed... I was prepared for SCJA, but it turned out to be as expensive as SCBCD in Poland. So, in a week or two I'll pass SCWCD, then will learn for MS SQL and SCBCD 5.0

First of all congratulations on your stunning score.

I also think that if you're going to take both SCWCD and SCBCD, it doesn't make much sense to pay for the SCJA.

If you don't mind, would you elaborate on chances to land a decent job in Poland with your intended cert combination (SCJP, SCBCD, SCWCD and MS SQL)?? I already have the MS SQL one, taking the SCJP soon, the J2EE ones will follow next year.

    Thanks a lot!!

    Thanks!
Well, yes you're right about SCJA. It's really not worth it. First I wanted to pass it just to have one more in my resume. But the price of this exam in Poland is sick
While learning for SCJA and SCWCD I came to a conclusion that I need to learn something about EJB 3.0 too. So why not to try taking the SCBCD - score doesn't count, does it?

I think that finding a decent job in Poland is much easier that it was 3 years ago. Many experienced employees went abroad and they will probably stay there for a few years. My friend who has about 3 years of experience and has passed an MS SQL 2005 cert found a better job in 2 days (in Warsaw).

I just hope that having certs will partly compensate the lack of experience. You always gain a bit of self-confidence.

I hope you'll pass SCJP as good as me
