Searching is messed up

Searching doesn't work very well on this site. I finally have a specific example to back this up.
Click search, on the search wordstype "Rob Ross", and for the forum choose "Applets", then click search. I left the "Match all search terms above" radio button selected.
None of the results have the terms "Rob Ross" in them.
Also, I can't find, via search, any recent posts. The most recent ones to come up are dated March 13. Is there some indexing process that only runs in occasional batches?

Rob,
you search people by the member number.
Try "24441" in the field "Search by registered member number". You should get your posts.

First, that doesn't explain why my original search criteria produces the results I see.
When I search by my member #, for example, in the Programmers Certification Forum, and don't specify a date, the last post it shows is in Feb. It also returns 200 results. Is there a cap at 200? I certainly have more than 200 posts in that forumn

Actually the posts do have rob ross in them. here is an example from one of the posts returned by the search:

I'm not sure what you mean. The search found exactly what you asked for.

The search only looks for the specified terms in the body of the text. It does not look at the poster. It will look for those combination of letters regardless whether or not there are other letters surrounding the specified ones.

"rob" is in the text.
"ross" is in the text.

The search text box is labled "Search Words."
Since that's the way it's labeled, that's what I excpect to search for.

While it's clear that the character sequences 'rob' and 'ross' are in the above text, they are not words. I expect a search to work like it works in all other situations. If you search google, it doesn't return partial matches of character sequences, it searches on actual words.
That aside, what about the issue of capping the results at 200, or navigating the search results after you have found them? If you select a result, and use the next/previous buttons, you aren't navigating in the result set anymore. I don't know what post it decides to show you when you click "next", but it's not one that's in the result set.

Once you click into a forum you are using forum controls. The "next" will take you to the next thread in that forum. If you wish to look at multiple results, then simply hold down the "shift" key when you click on the link and IE will open the link in a new window.
The search is limited to 200 hits simply for performance reasons.

There is an option to view a user's recent posts - it's not by using search, and you're probably already aware of it - but anyway:
by clicking on a user's profile and then the little link "view recent posts".
