Passed SCEA5 Part 1 at 62%

I took it yesterday morning. It is really a tough one in a short time. I had almost 12 minutes for review. I feel a little upset about my score. The good thing is the preparation journey helped me read a lot. If there were a good study book, it would be a lot of easier. Great thanks for Mikalai Zaikin's study guide: http://java.boot.by/scea5-guide/. Hope you can finish all the chapters very soon.

Technologies I feel the exam focused on:
1)JPA
2)JSF
3)SOA
4) JCA
5)Security
6)GOF and core patterns
A lot of scenario topics exist. Comparing with the real exam, both Suns Epractice and Whizlabs simulators are too easy. You must read carefully and have good analysis skills to figure out the correct answers.

As a silent reader, this forum has helped me a lot in clearing the exam. My special thanks to all the Java Ranchers. Now it is time to move on to part II.

Some question regarding to the SCEA certificate. My company has just been acquired by Oracle. Does anybody know Oracle's policy about SCEA?

Thanks a lot,

Alice Gong

Congratulations!!!

I just passed SCEA Part I about two weeks ago. I will move to SCEA Part II in the middle of September, and got a little bit relax from tough SCEA Part I exam and preparations.

Good luck with Oracle which acquired too many companies these a few eyars.

I have been seeing this study book referred by many.

I still feel this is not enough to really master the topics. It may be a good idea just to keep this book for reference or index and basic understanding, and cover the topics in deeper.

Afterall passing this exam is not a targte for anyone I believe. Aquiring the knowledge is more important.
