my instructions state the following

List any assumptions made ... that have a material impact on your design ...



What is meant by "a material impact" ?

Thanks for your reply. I think you are right.
In the mean time I found the following definition:

having great meaning or lasting effect<there's no material difference between the two designs for the skyscraper: one's as bad as the other>



I think the "lasting effect" is what is relevant to this assignment as it relates in a sense to the architecture and design of the application.
