Hi All,
I am planning to start preparing for SCWCD, I am right now slightly confused. If I take the exam now..which ever is the version right now, what happens after the new exam is released in March 2004 or whenever ?
Is this exam still valid ? or do I need to give some sort of upgrade ?
I don't have much time to wait till March..I was planning by this month end. As I have experience in J2EE....
Any help in this regard is helpful....
Thanks
Venkatesh

Hi Venkatesh,

The old exam will still be there, as you can expect this from SCJP 1.2 and SCJP 1.4. There are still co-exist after SCJP 1.4 is released more than 1 year.

Is this exam still valid ?

YES.

or do I need to give some sort of upgrade ?

Upgrade or not is solely depends on what you want.
Personally, I wont upgrade exams unless the old one is really phase out, or there is a special promotion (like my SCJP 1.4, I got a 75% off discount )
Nick.

According to the posts here, there are around 40% different, and Mr. Bates said the new exam is more difficult that the current one.
You may obtain more details in this post:
Update: (but NOT final) SCWCD beta news
The new topics includes:

- Some additional design patterns

Do you know where to apply for vouchers ? Is it late now ?

The voucher can be applied from SunCert@Prometric.com.
I am not sure whether there are still vouchers available, but you may have a try.
