Hi All,

I need confirmation on one of the concept :

<servlet-name> is used in Deployment Description (web.xml) to create alias for a servlet. Is it true ? or there is some other element.

I am new to J2EE so this might be a easy question for you all.

Thanks,

The servlet-name tag is like the link between the url pattern and the servlet class. Its like giving your servlet a recognizable dummy name that can be used for the mapping mentioned. You can also redirect to another servlet by mentioning the servlet-name with a named dispatcher.
