Is the SCWCD exam considered hard by industry standards? E.g compared to MS certs, and other IT certs?

Definitely, considering the fact that java is a little bit harder to study than .net!

It depends, SCBCD for J2EE 1.3 was the hardest cert exam I took, however the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - database design test was very hard.

The MCSD.NET exams are not so difficult, I would agree that the Sun Java cert exams are tougher. However the MCTS exams for .NET 2.0 are quite difficult, it is hard to argue that the Sun Java exams are still tougher.

That being said the only good exam for Object Oriented concepts is SCJP, the Microsoft exams don't really test knowledge of OO theory much.

The new exams for .NET 2.0 however are quite tough.
