Cleared SCWCD

Hi,
I cleared SCWCD 1.4 exam yesterday with 72%. I had a very small preparation time of 8 days and i followed
1. HFSJ , really nice book for preparation
2. Whizlab simulator exams, its good but not as good as SCJP 5 simulator exam
3. Design pattern notes of Peabody

I dint do a good job in my preparation with EL and i dint take enough effort to carefully go through the Deployment Descriptor tags. I missed a few questions there. In all i would suggest, pay attention to even finer details in HFSJ and you should be home with good scores.

What would be its psychological effect on other SCWCD preparation doers, if
somebody says, its can be done in good 8 days.

IMHO, it needs considerable amount of time and effort for preparation. At
least it is what goes with me.

First of all, Congratualating you for having scored a good percentage within a short span!

As Marcus Green asked, i do think and assume you should have had a prior and considerable knowledge before you took the exam. If not, a big Hats Off to you! ;-) [Now, i believe on the four-letter-term LUCK! ]

As chandra said, it may be a bit misleading others who are on track. Not to disappoint, but still a good effort makes a lot of sense and it proves its worth for a long duration. I also have a strong hope on it - on my personal and humble opinion.

Apologies first for not letting you know that i have around 3 years of webtier experience. Sorry if my message has cause any confusion. I candidly accept that any one new to webtier development, in my opinion it is totally impossible to do away with this short time.

Since i had worked in both Model 1 and Model 2 architectures and have experience in few industry standard frame work like Struts, Spring etc i understand the webtier technologies to a good extent. As i mentioned in my previous post "I dint do a good job in my preparation with EL and i dint take enough effort to carefully go through the Deployment Descriptor tags", which IMHO is not a good way to prepare for the exam. In reality if you know the concept and lets say you get the tag spelled wrong in DD , you end up redeploying the app in dev environment, but i have to accept examtaker does not have this luxury.
Also i found your perperation material useful, it was particularly helpful during my last few days of preparation.

I think you are reading between lines here. In my post i have clearly mentioned "In all i would suggest, pay attention to even finer details in HFSJ " which means do your preparation well. I agree with you it needs considerable amount of time and effort for preparation. The real confidence came to me after scoring consistently above 80% in all the Mock exams.

After a good preparation, there are time in the exam when you just cannot decide between two choices, at that point i would very much believe in the four letter term LUCK! but not blindly believe in it.

Let me clear the air here. I still believe understanding the technology is more important than the scores, which means writing a lot of samples and running a lot of samples and just not following the guides. Let me know if you want me to make any clarification here and thanks a lot for your time and feedback

I met a B.Tech guy with 3 years exp. working in Mastek who said it is possible to have 2 public classes in a single .java file compiled.

Sundaram, many thanks for your update on your previous experience. I was concerned that other students might think that the exam was easy and would be very dissapointed when they took the real exam. Whatever your background, passing the exam is still a significant achievement, many congratulations on your success.
