Hi, All,
I would like to know whether it is mandatory to use the security manager and policy file if I choose to use RMI to implement the network connection. I have been having some problem with Security Manager on Linux, and I rememberd someone mentioned that he passed the exam without it. Just would like to clarify on that.
Thank you very much!
Christy

I passed with a 150/155 and I did not use policy, codebase, classpath, or any enviornmental setup for that matter (and used RMI). I am sure others have done better than that as well. Just be sure to include your stubs in your client

Hi christy,
Nate's right in his assessment. The only thing I would add is that the only time you need a SecurityManager is if you are loading stubs dynamically. So if you do what Nate says and make sure that all stubs are locally available there should be no need for a SecurityManager.
Hope this helps,
Michael Morris

I agree, no security manager needed.

What are you saying? I thought you said that Santa gave you that. And this tiny ad:
