In a nutshell:
- Those certified after Sept 1st will have their certifications valid for 2 yrs only.
- Recertification thru a single exam only ($100)
- Original certificate still 'valid' in the sense that it shows that you were certified at some point in time!
Details are at the Sun certification FAQ:
http://suned.sun.com/US/certification/faq/.

It seems not fair to me. I bought the assignments before Sep. 1 and I don't know I need to be recertificated.
If we get 4 certifications, do we need to recertificated them one by one? or just one test
for 4 certifications?

I don't think "valid" makes too much sense to emploers, if the technology itself does not have fundamental changes. Say, they deprecate several methods (maybe just name changes), or they add several new classes or packages, would that really erase all the knowlege we have so far?
Any thought?
