Abhi, I think the screen shots look really good. I'd give you a 10 on the scale. I like the flow of the screen and the layout of using a Toolbar, the menus, the JTree and the edit section on the right. It reminds me of a lot of real world applications out there that we use. I think you will do fine on the GUI side of the assignment, and probably the rest of the assignment, so go ahead and sign up and download the assignment, you are ready.

Shoot, I just looked at your resume on your student website. You will have no problems, you should already know how good your GUI looks.

Fight On!!!

Marlene UCLA

(Note to others. This is an inside joke. USC and UCLA are football rivals.)

Umm, I'm not going there. There would be flames a flyin here.

And I was around for those 8 years in a row that we lost to UCLA, and know how obnoxious they were, and I wouldn't want to stoop to that level for the past 5 years and counting.

I don't follow football. So it's okay whatever you want to say.

What I liked about USC was the music department. I studied classical guitar from a graduate student at USC and I attended (snuck in to) Manual Barreuco's master classes. They didn't ask me to leave, even though I was not a student there. Andres Segovia once gave master classes for a whole week. My boss at work let me shift my hours, so that I could go. The Spanish classical guitarist Pepe Romero was on the faculty. Once he gave a concert and performed a Guiliani guitar concerto with violin, viola and cello. At the end the cellist is supposed to play the castanettes. Instead Pepe's mother, being Spanish, played the castanettes. The cellist, Gabor Reito, just looked on and smiled. I heard Gabor Reito, who taught at USC. I went to one of summer cello seminars, which was great fun. One of the cello teachers was the cellist of the Julliard String Quartet, Joel Krosnik. I heard some strange new music at the Schoenberg Institute. There is just a lot a great music going on at USC.

As for Washington, that's where I live now, in Seattle. But I don't follow their football games either.

My thoughts about UCLA: too many people.

Now that's a clean design. How does it behave if a user has to resize the window? I didn't see a screenshot for that. Very nice work.

Marlene, that sounds cool. To see all those great musicians. I took a few guitar classes at USC. Beginner 1 and 2 then private lessons for a semester, way back in 1988. Well I think I have progressed quite a bit since then. I still play, I am in a band in which we do covers of the band Rush.

You have to cut and paste. There is a space in between.

We play once a year, on my birthday. In Long Beach, CA Next show will be in late January, early February.
