Well, I think that it's because there are some JavaRanch members who still connect with 300baud Teletypes without color ribbons...

What's wrong with black and white photos anyway?
I still love them and still do quite a bit of black and white (even run my own darkroom).

nothing wrong with b&w photos...just reminds me of calvin asking his dad about color photos....people who are fans of calvin & hobbes surely know what i'm talking about....others, just ignore -- too hard to explain!

Kathy's pic was the first. It was black and white. So 100% of the pictures (1 picture) was black and white. When we merged our sites, my site didn't have a contact page. I thought it was a good idea, so I wanted to continue with the theme she started. So I had a pic taken of me also holding an "action figure" and converted it to B&W.
Later, I started adding other pictures and I converted those to B&W also. Kinda keep with the theme/look that Kathy started. But not everybody had a picture with an "action figure" ... oh well.
