Ok to start off I am 15, I hope that none of you will judge me by my age but I think it will help you all to see from my viewpoint.
My goal is to be certified in java within the next six months as I am trying to get my studying to count as an independent study for school(if the comp dept head oks it). I was just wondering what possible suggestions those of you with more experience could offer me?
I would also appreciate answers to the following questions:
1. Are there any training centers in Massachusetts? I would love to take a classroom course, I like interacting and learning with others. My biggest issues are money and time. I can't go to classes during the daytime as I attend public school and I don't have $5000 dollars to spend.
2. Is a passing score a 61 or a 71? I keep seeing both scores posted on certification sites that I have found and I can't determine which is the real passing grade.
Thanks for all your help in advance, this place seems like a great community.

Hi Matthew,
Welcome to the ranch!
A passing score is 61%. It had been 71% before October of 2000, when the test was updated and changed a bit.
I can't help you with courses in Massachusetts, but I'm sure there's something.
Have you looked for a JUG (Java Users Group) in your area? They list them on Sun's site, and they often have study groups for SCJP.
You're off to a good start by signing on here. This is a great forum!

Matthew,
Here is the page with the info about the MA JUGs: http://servlet.java.sun.com/jugs/north_america/usa/massachusetts.jsp
It also has links to some training centers.
