exteded protocol support ontop of GCF?

Hi all
I would like to add a protocol implemenation to the Generic Connection Framework. How can this be done? Do i really need do implemet my own javax.microedition.io for this or is there any way to make my existing CDC implemenation of GCF to use my new protocol implemenation
