Here is a short code in "Thinking In Java (2nd edition)"
My question is that how can I use "Chair.f" in the class of Chair before we new the Chair object?
Thank you!

I am not sure I have fully understood your question, but if Chair.f is a static class member, surely you just reference it, e.g.
Chair.f = true ;
But Chair must be in scope - in the package or public. Also, to be static Chair should be a top level class.
Does this help?
