it is said that the AWT package and IO has been dropped out of the scope.Does that mean the layoutManager and event handling in AWT has dropped? In addition, all pervious exam points concerning IO, i.e. File,inputStream,and OutputStream.... ,has also been dropped?

you got it -- no AWT, no IO --- but they did add Assertions and a lil bit more.
