I guess we're going to have to call this one a 'usability issue'. The figure you refer to in your question was never intended to have a code listing associated with it.
I have to say that since you found this confusing (in this case the figure was supposed to stand on its own), we will take a look at redesigning this page.
One of the things that we are going to change on the website is the structure of the so-called 'errata' page. Currently we have listed number of categories of changes that we want to make to the book:
1 - errors that are confusing
2 - typos that are pretty obvious
3 - clarifications or better explanations
4 - improved formatting
Right now all of those types of changes are mixed together - in some ways that's easier to navigate, because everything is sequenced by page number.
On the other hand - if you're only interested in the category 1 issues, then it's a pain to have to find those amoungst the others...
So, we're pretty sure we're going to categorize them...
