Ketan,
Programmer certification is not all that tough.
1. Get Kathy's or Philip Hellers book(as they are simple and certification oriented when compared to Khalid mughal) u can finish it in 8-12 days depending on number of hours u dedicate per day for studies.
2. Once you are done with these certification bibles solve as many as standard mock exams as you can, that might take another 8-10 days. Practising with a lot of mock exams will give you a lot confidence in your preparation.

3.Also keep hanging around in javaranch , it will surely help you a lot.
Here is a big list of Mock Exams listed by maha anna. They are really good.
This link which is cert faq will help with any query regarding programmer certification.
Hope this helps you

Ketan,
Adding to Reshma, Kathy's book is really good, and you can finish it fast. The title might be different depending on the publisher, but look for the authors Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates.
And dont forget to take Marcus's and Dan's mock exams.

Prem,
There were so many discussions on Mughals book in this forum. Though I've not read it, from these discussions, they say its very good but a little tough to understand.
I'll vote for the book by Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates.

I have referred kahlid Mughal, its a very good book; helps one get concepts in java, buts its very difficult to sit with this book for long , this is recommended to be referred those who have some experience in java. Kathy-Bert book is popular in ranch.. so must be a very good book too.

Ketan -
The link to Sun's list of objectives is good, but there is one small error everyone should know.
In section 8, the objectives list the getXxx( ) method. This method is not on the exam, however the valueOf( ) method IS on the exam and is not listed.
