Just a note to say Hi!. I have a copy of your Java Rules book and I downloaded a copy of Mastering The Fundamentals: Volume 2 a few weeks ago. At the time I purchased Java Rules I did so because of my appreciation of the Addison-Wesley Developmentor series of books. I had attended some Developmentor training a few years ago and found that their instructors were top notch and the authors in the series really know the technology they write about.
I am not one to purchase the typical books on Java on the bookshelves at my local store. I tend to always be looking for something more. I am usually disappointed. In your case I have to say you raise the bar for other authors.
I think the more sound my understanding of the fundamentals, the further I can go with anything in life and nothing could be more true when programming in Java. I was thrown into Java on a project a few years ago and had to learn the why after the how. I have an easier time with the why because of your books. Thank You.
I also must say I respect what you have done regarding the not charging for the downloading of your e-book. In return I plan to purchase a printed copy when available from your website. It is refreshing to see someone with a gift share what they have with those who are eager to learn.
Best Regards

Thanks ever so much for you generous comments. I am going to take the liberty of copying them to my Web site. Please let me know if you would rather I not do so.
I always feel apologetic about "Java Rules" (soon to be renamed Mastering the Fundamentals, Volume 1 in the Second Edition). It was my first attempt at technical writing and I made a lot of mistakes. Your moderator Tom (and a great many others) doesn't like it when I make public apologies for the printed book, so let me just say that the Second Edition is a massive leap forward in quality. It has been selling like hotcakes the last few days on Amazon.com and it looks like the dirt cheap copies may finally sell out. The publisher is aware that I am about to publish a Second Edition and "dumped" the printed copies to Internet wholesellers.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
