While equating array reference variables if the dimensions aren�t appropriate then compile time error is not caused but runtime error sets in.
is this true?? can someone give an example?

Sounds to me like they're talking about an IndexOutOfBoundsException.
String[] bob = new String[5]; String s = bob[15]; //Exception thrown here at runtime.
