For those of you thinking of taking the SCJP test my experiences are:
1. The Marcus Green Web site is a good start. http://www.jchq.net/
2. ucertify is tougher than the real test but worth the bucks to see the ticky
questions Sun come up with: http://www.ucertify.com/
3. The complete Java 2 Certification study guide. Roverts, Heller, Ernest

Perhaps this seems enough but there's a lot of material to be discovered! Good luck.

The more mock exams I give even more I discover about java. This gives me a good feeling that inspite of having more than 4 yrs of java program experience I ama learning because of certification preparation. BUT, at the same time it looses me confidence in my intentions of getting more than 95% in actual exam.

Someone please write me some helping words what should I do. I have attepted almost 1000 questions till now and still I discover something new from the javaranch post itself!

Thanks to everybody for the help !!!

Before sitting for the SCJP1.4 exam pls go for the mock exam as much as u can. if your score is above 80 then you're confident enough to pass the exam but if luck favoures u.

On the other hand for better preparation just follow the Kethey Siera and Bate Berts Certifications book very carefully and as soon as u finish it go for the another book of Khalid-a-mughals book.

I think that'll work for u quys.

Anand,

You should also note that some mock exams are harder than others.

I know content differs a bit and it might be a function of gaps in my particualt knowledge...but I have scored much lower (15-19 percentage points) on Dan Chisholm's mocks than I did on Marcus Green/K&B CD exam/Sun ePractice exam.

That's not to say that you shouldn't do Dan's mocks as well, as they really pushed me...or that the others are not hard enough, because I don't think thats the case either.

Anywise, if everytime you get a question wrong you discover the reason why then that is a good thing.

Good luck.

Cheers,

Si.

It strikes me that perhaps a useful post for this forum might be a summary of what mock tests are available out there...with links to each. Perhaps there is an admin that might know/do this and maybe 'pin' the post so it stays in sight on the list?

If such a list exists and I just haven't seen it yet....well, I don't know. Point me to it.

Thanks,
Pete.

Hi Pete,

You can find a list of mock exams in Standard FAQ (see the links at the top of this forum).
