310-055 is the newer one. It covers the latest version of
Java (Java 5.0, sometimes called 1.5). The -035 exam only covers Java 1.4.
So, the downside of -055 is that you have to know a lot more material to pass it. Of course, the upside is that YOU WILL KNOW A LOT MORE MATERIAL
WHEN YOU PASS IT!
I would definitely suggesting taking the 1.5 exam (assuming you know Java and are interested in moving your career forward) if you feel you can learn the material (and anyone can!).
