Destructors ?

How come there are no destructors in Java language? Is there any specific reason for that?

Java uses a garbabe collection system to reclaim objects that are no longer needed, which is one of the main responsibilities of a destructor. However, if an object holds onto any resources such as a database connection or a socket, a finalize() method can take care of closing those.
