But where are you in this world?Andorra,Chile,Tanzania,Fiji,Maldives,...?
Speaking of the few Nigerians I worked with, they were some of the best developers I know. Ade(short form of a very long name) Adeiji was one of my first Java Gurus. Great attitude. Way to go Nigeria ! regards
She's definitely from Nigeria, and I would fairly confidently guess that she's Yoruba. I used to live in Ogbomoso, Lagos, and Jos, so if you do get a job, maybe you'd like to hook me up too! I'm sitting the SCJP exam on Mon afternoon... Ki Olorun Ki Ofu Li Emmi Gigun, Stephen
Oh, are you this Stephen Huey ? Stephen Huey Great page. Still trying to get the Up/Down arrows to work in the Think Ahead Game. Will try BallWorld and I like your description of use of design patterns as "know their behaviour and act appropriately without conditional statements". regards [ July 20, 2003: Message edited by: HS Thomas ]
what kind of job still only uses J2SE? I feel more sad everyday with only SCWCD in J2EE

They exist. I found out from a recent potential employer that the software they develop for their energy client(s) only uses J2SE. And HS Thomas, were you knocking my page? That was definitely a very temporary one put up very haphazardly, and I've been SOOOO lazy that I haven't taken it down. I'm not too concerned about it b/c most of the HR people I've dealt with don't seem aware of the notion of Googling applicants.

been working 3 years in java and very seldomly do I stray from J2SE. Never wrote a bean, never wrote a servlet, never wrote a line of XML or JSP tags. Very rarely do I dabble in the Mail api, or webservices. Most of my work is working with JDBC, custom jars ( ie Crystal Reports jars, IBM jars etc ), and security APIs. Not once did the job description say "J2SE" in the job description. Jamie
Ok, thanks HS Thomas. And Billy Tsai, I didn't want to go posting names of companies on here. It's a new energy solutions company in Houston--they may have only one or two clients b/c they started about a year or two ago. However, their work sounds similar to a lot of the other "energy solutions" companies I've interviewed with that write apps in Java, so it's nothing unusual. Granted, there are a lot of positions out there that say "J2EE" or "servlets, JSP" but there are also a lot that don't, and from what I can see, plenty of people need both. It's not like J2EE means you throw out J2SE anyway.
When it is used for evil, then watch out! When it is used for good, then things are much nicer. Like this tiny ad:
