HI everyone,

I have to launch a notepad from an applet.
I have a button called "Launch Notepad" in applet.Upon Clicking on that it throws an Exception called "java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.io.FilePermission <<ALL FILES>> execute)"

May i know how to crack on this

Thanks and Regards,

Hello "SriLatha"-

Welcome to JavaRanch.

On your way in you may have missed that we have a policy on screen names here at JavaRanch. Basically, it must consist of a first name, a space, and a last name, and not be obviously fictitious. Since yours does not conform with it, please take a moment to change it, which you can do right here.

As to your question, applets run in a "sandbox" that prohibits them from doing a number of things, and which throws AccessControlExceptions if they are trying to do those things. See http://faq.javaranch.com/java/HowCanAnAppletReadFilesOnTheLocalFileSystem for ways around that.
