I can't answer if one book is enough. It is more of a personal call. We have guys who have cleared the cert without any books, just with Sun Tutorials and specs.

In Bombay, you can go to any NIIT center and they can guide you to the nearest prometric center. I know they have one in Ghatkopar and one in Borivali. There are more though.

Steps involved:
1. Buy a sun coupon. You can get it from NIIT or any vendor who supports Sun Certifications. It will cost you approx Rs. 7000/-. Look out for deals and discounts. Ask the center about it. At times you get coupons at Rs. 5500 also.

2. Prepare for your exam.

3. Register for a date when you intend to give the exam at any prometric center.

and then just do your best.

Hope this information helped.

I think the book by Mughal Khalid is for Java 1.4. (I didn't see any newer version)

Yes it is for 1.4, but you can download concise notes of the new topics
from their website. It's one of the best books for scjp. Try to grab a copy of K&B too if possi, both of them will be more than enough.

All the best

Hi Prasad,

this seems to be your first posting, so

Welcome to the Ranch!

The little deletion I made was only due to a request for material that is protected by copy right.
Don't bother, strange things happen in first postings

For your question, Mugals Book is for 1.4 only.
Since there are major changes (in Java and in the exam) I'd prefer the "K&B book".

Or,
you may also try new (well not really brand new, just plain new) site from Sun:
http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/extra/certification/index.html

Yours,
Bu.
