i dont quite understand this line,
can anyone explain with a bit of detail?

(this line compiles fine i am sure)

sorry I am too rushing in to figure it out. Not quite sure about "%s", and boxing thing new Long("123"),

how come this compile just fine?

%s is String, so all you get is 123 on the screen.

Hi,

when compiler sees %s it calls the object.toString(); method and hence new Long("123") is treated as a string and it compiles fine.

I am not sure about the explanation. Any experts please clarify this....
