Hi Ranchers,

I would like to know what the relevance of a "classCastException" being thrown when a file with TreeSet, that is populated with a custom-class, that does not implement Comparable, is run....

Thanks.

The TreeSet collection sorts its elements. To do that, it uses one of two options.

If a Comparator has been provided (in the constructor), then it will use that to determine the order.

If not, then it will assume that the elements are Comparable, and cast the elements to the Comparable interface -- which it will use to determine the order.

Now obviously, if you provide neither, then the cast will cause a cast exception.
