I got it to work. It was a descriptor problem. The new JBoss does not use jaws.xml but instead uses jbosscmp-jdbc.xml. the jboss.org site is LAX on documentation. I can only imagine its inside the docs you have to pay for, but who can be sure since they are unreviewed I am kind of reluctant to pay.
I had to specify version="3.0" for Xdoclet to produce the jbosscmp file and im up and running now!
