I was reading thru it the other day at Borders and it looks excellent. I agree with most of the points the Rod Johnson discusses (especially his view on Entity Beans). This book looks like a good resource for someone that has already read a few J2EE books. I wouldn't recommend this book to someone as their first foray in J2EE though.
Start off with Mastering EJB or Enterprise JavaBeans, Core J2EE
Patterns, and EJB Design Patterns. Then move onto Rod's book.
