I think the OP is referring to the fact that one of the links in the referenced FAQ seems to be broken or outdated. Their ire about this seems a little misguided though. Issues like these should probably be politely brought to the attention of the moderators in this forum. Please use the Java in General (beginner) forum for Java questions.

Web sites sometimes go away; that's just a fact of life. Since there's no way to automatically check whether the site behind an URL is what it once was, the link becomes stale. No big deal.

I've removed the link for now. If you find a site where that PDF can be downloaded, feel free to add a link to it to the page.

Thanks to Ranchers, we folks are really nice.
Imagine if it were some elsewhere and we got similar kind of tone.

Yeah Shesh, bumped his own thread. The irony for me is, now I'm a moderator and on the "payroll".

Okay, I'll admit this was the first time I checked out the link being discussed (links to free stuff on the internet).

Could one of the now-double-earning volunteer staff confirm that the links are to legit (non-copyrighted) material? Specifically, the links to the classics by Wirth seem suspicious legit (*) (they are published by either Prentice Hall or Addison-Wesley).

(*) Edit: I confirm that those PDFs have been made available by the esteemed author himself: http://www.inf.ethz.ch/personal/wirth/

thank you for all that you do,
- Anand
