choosing between entity and session bean

1.what basis should i choose between session and entity bean on?
2.if i have to put them together, what is the most important role each should perform?

Session and entity beans exist for entirely different reasons; its not an either/or choice.

A session bean, especially a session facade, choreographs how various other components will interact with each other, with those 'other' components typically being your entity beans, which represent database centric information.

I've often heard it said that Entity Beans are like the actors in a play, whereas a Session bean is the script. It's a good analogy.
