persisting a jms

I'm learning jms and I understand you can persist a jms.
Can anyone explain how this is done? To persist an entity
bean, you need a database somewhere down there, is the
same true for messages? I haven't been able to find any
examples where this is done.

you can create a persistance store for the JMS resource(Topics and Queues). You need to configure them so that they persist the JMS message.
