How to edit an properties file dynamically i have tried properties.store(
method but as that is clearing the old values i need only to change the required value,

Read 'em all in and write 'em all out is how the Properties class works. It's designed for use with small local files with values that change infrequently, so there's little inefficiency.

If you really need random access you could try java.io.RandomAccessFile.
