During a recession, many companies react defensively: they tighten their belts, and brace themselves for slower growth. Thus there may be buzz of fewer projects/no projects coming to your organization and you and your colleges too may be dampening your spirit with the recession. It doesnt have to be that way. Recession is an opportunity to gain knowledge and strengthen your career. You can utilize this time, instead of being insecure to actually forward your career in a way that makes you immune to recession.

This is a good time to restart studies and lengthen your list of professional degrees. Get certifications it is a huge value add to your career and will provide you with an edge over others. If at all there are retrenchments in the organizations the chances of someone with certifications to survive the job will be much higher than anyone else. Being certified opens up other career options as well like authoring, consultant etc (part-time or freelancing).

All this bad news about recession may not be that bad after all.

What do you think...
