Try looking at the process and Runtime classes.
Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("C:\Program
Files\myProgram\mycommand.exe");

hi,
if u r using Application then the solution using Process should work fine as suggested,
if u use Applet then u can use JavaScript and Applet communication using JSObject package (try search on google for netscape.JSObject) and use JavaScript for opening a new window..
hth,
maulin

Hi.
I am reconsidering my approach fundamentally.
I am thinking that there is one single access point through the applet from the web-server to the app-server.
All other processing will then be in the app-servers with servlets calling servlets...
Commentaries and thoughts always appreciated.
TIA

Moving to servlets.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
