HttpSessionListener beforeSessionDestroyed

actually, it's sessionDestroyed method. I need beforeSessionDestroyed.
Considering:

(pseudocode)
Creating a list.
Adding said list to the application scope in a context listener.

class HttpSessionListenerImpl 
     implements HttpSessionListener{

  sessionCreated(HttpSession s) {
    // add s to the list.
     list.add(s);
  }
  sessionDestroyed(HttpSession s) {
 
   for(i = 0; i < list.size(); i ++){
       session = list.get(i);
       if(System.currentTimeMillis() 
          - session.getLastAccessedTime()
          >  session.getMaxInactiveInterval())
 
          list.remove(i) = null;
   }
  }
 
}

Do I really have to do all that? It seems like too much effort to achieve basic functionality. Is there another way? If not, should I go all-out and extend HttpSessionListener, providing my own functionality?
