Could somebody tell me how can this webpage get so more java information without using an applet?
http://www.cyscape.com/showbrow.aspx?bhcp=1

At the moment I use an applet to get all the needed information, but the problem is that the first time this applet loads, JVM starts really slowly.

Are there any ways how to get java version and vendor without using applets?

Thanks in advance

What do you mean by "without using an applet" ? The page does use an applet.

You can use JavaScript code like the following to determine you which plugins are installed, which will give you an idea of what is available, but it doesn't tell you which Java Plugin will be used if there are several.
