Marker interface does not have any methods. When a class implements a merker interface it indicates is had some special property.

For example when a class implements Serializable the objects are can be store in secondary storage or passed across the network. For SingleThreadModel the servlet container makes sure that only one request is passed to a servlet instance.

The use of marker interfaces is abandonned now, maybe you should think twice before making some.

Are you saying that Serilaizable is no longer used. Annontations are a good substitue.

"Rajesh TN",

There aren't many rules that you need to worry about here on the Ranch, but one that we take very seriously regards the use of proper names. Please take a look at the JavaRanch Naming Policy and adjust your display name to match it.

In particular, your display name must be a first and a last name separated by a space character, and must not be obviously fictitious.

Thanks!

As this has nothing to do with Servlets, it's been moved to the Java in General (intermediate) forum.

No, I wanted to say that there's no new Marker interfaces in the latest Java API. All those interfaces are from older APIs.

This question gets asked frequently, so we have an entry for it in the FAQ wiki.

Nice to know that you have mentioned about Annotations.
