I would like to 'post' the text within a TextArea so that a new window will open up using the script that has been submitted by the user. All HTML tags will be empty because the info in the textarea is for html practice online... is this possible with java???

Try using the target attribute of the form tag:

This should submit a request to myHtmlTest.jsp in a new window, with (obviously) your textarea as a parameter.

If you use a frame(shudder) inside your page, you can have just that frame submit a request to myHtmlTest.jsp by putting the frame's name where '_blank' is.

Welcome to JavaRanch "Flash Ghost",

please read our JavaRanch Naming Policy and change your displayed name to comply with it. We require a displayed name in the form <first name><space><family name>, preferably your real name. Your profile will be disabled if you continue to post with your current displayed name.

Thanks
-Barry
