I am a begineer to java.i searched the books for the begineers in the group.I am confused that should i go with JUST JAVA2 by Peter Van Der Linden or should i go with CORE JAVA2 by Hortsmann.Actually the problem is that CORE JAVA2 comes in two volumes while JUST JAVA2 comes in one volume.
So if JUST JAVA2 by Peter is sufficient then i won't have to purchase two
volumes of CORE JAVA2 by Hortsmann.

I would be really thankful and greatful for your help.

I used the Just Java book when I first started and it worked fine, can't speak to the other book(s) though. I beleive Just Java is up to the 6th edition, its a pretty solid book for a beginner.
