Just got a Java tutorial book Friday. The plan was to get a casual start on it today but I go to the Sun download page, hit download and get this:

Notice: We're Offline for System Upgrades

Our site is currently offline for maintenance. We ask that you please try again later. Be assured that we continue enhancing our system in order to provide you with the best possible service.

We appreciate your patronage and patience.

This has been the case for over an hour. I'm not real patient.

Does anyone know an alternative site for getting a clean copy of the SDK?

Welcome to JavaRanch.

I'm not aware of any non-Sun site that offers JDKs to download.

I've never heard of an alternate, not in English anyway. In any event, the Sun site seems to be working now.

Looks like I'm all set, the Sun site is back up and I'm happily downloading.

Thanks for the replies.
