what is the class path?
how it is set in Win Xp
My Java installation folder path is C:\Javaee\prog\Java
then what should be the proper location for my source files

The classpath is where Java looks for class files. See How To Set The Classpath in the JavaRanch FAQ.

I am moving this to the Java in General (Beginner) forum, because it's not a question about the SCJP.
