I heard lot's of customer service when you call connects to India.

Just for knowledge and curiosity how technically it should be working. I mean e.g. when you call compaq 800 number it connects to india. How this phone system working?

Quite simple in fact. There's a computer (telephone switch) somewhere in your own country that takes the incoming calls and forwards them to the overseas callcenter.
There the incoming calls are then forwarded to the correct room/person/department based on the company that forwarded them the call so someone calling Dell customer support doesn't get surprised by someone answering the phone with "Wallmart customer services, how i can help u?".
Many callcenter companies in cheap labour countries take calls for dozens if not hundreds of customer companies in several countries...
